Kay's move to Yorkshire is a return to her roots.
Back in Harrogate we have recently acquired Aunt Bly's recipe book, full of amazing cake recipes from a bygone age. We are working to resurrect them for a North York Moors take on these traditional recipes, baked lovingly in the Aga, using the finest ingredients and sourced as locally as possible.
The Honey Cake is a staple enjoyed on arrival by our holiday cottage guests and is made from our own Honey.
We acquired our Honey bees in 2017 from Farndale deep in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. The Apiary is an important part of the garden and is managed carefully with the wellbeing of the colonies always coming first.
The bees forage on the beautiful local flora, wild meadow flowers, tree nectar, clover and Ling Heather. The honey is processed by hand, filtered through a sieve, settled in buckets before jarring. So it is as natural as it comes, and is available to buy from our gate.
Guests are always welcome to learn more about honey bees, so let Kay know if you would like to look inside a hive.
