Get out in the North York Moors for The Big National Annual Butterfly Count which takes place annually in July & August. The Comma Butterfly is one of the rarer butterflies to be seen at Grove House, Levisham. Stay in Skelton or Rowntree Holiday Cottages and enjoy observing the butterflies and pollinators whilst relaxing in the cottage garden.
No North York Moors summer holiday is complete without a walk in the August Heather. A purple hue lights the moor as far as the eye can see. A walk amongst the Heather is sure to be a mindful experience; a free tonic for lifting ones spirits. The Hole of Horcum is probably the best! In August it is spectacular and from Grove House Levisham Holiday Cottages at Levisham Station it is on your doorstep.
The "June Gap" is used by Beekeepers and Gardeners to describe the period at the end of the Spring Blossom and the start of the summer blooms. It's an ideal time to take a holiday in the North York Moors National Park before the Schools break up for summer. Find out more about the June Gap and about our availability.
North York Moors National Park Dark Skies Festival takes place between 15 February & 3 March 2019. There are numerous events taking place in, on and around the National Park. During the festival we will be offering Holiday Cottage Guests a unique experience to discover Our Dark Skies.
